Cafes, Bars and Restaurants Oh My!
Inman Square has never lacked in places to grab a bite or a pint. Now, things are only getting better. Geek Offices would like to extend a warm welcome to a number of new restaurants, bars, a cafe and one very cozy pop up spot that are opening here in our neighborhood.
In order of proximity to our 1035 Cambridge St front door, they are;
1. BISq
Hard to beat this Urban Daddy description of BISq (Bergamot Inman Square); “a wine-laden Cambridge charcuterie retreat from the Bergamot gang, where you’ll witness champagne sabering and drink something called tiger’s milk. It opens Saturday.” Address; 1071 Cambridge St.
2. The ‘Retail Incubator’
One door down from BISq in what is sadly no longer Grillos Pickles is a nifty little pop up shop by Clover Food Lab and Bread & Salt Hospitality. The site was recently home to Just Bananas Ice Cream Company and, according to Eater Boston “will offer rotating concepts, many food-related, in the Inman Square storefront.”
Cross the street and make the trek 3 very short blocks (Cambridge and Prospect) to the “Cambridge outpost of a Brookline legend” where you’ll find at 100 plus beers and liquors at any given time. Lots of pictures of the newly opened Hops N Scotch here.
Though technically a renovation and one that re-opened way back in February, Bukowski’s is definitely worth checking out. It features “an industrial look with a stainless steel bar-top, wooden tables, modern hanging lights, and chalkboards that display the rotating menu specials, as well as famous quotes by Charles Bukowski” according to Wicked Local Cambridge. The $1 million renovation did bring an end to Bukowski’s dollar dogs and buck burgers but the retractable garage door front facade remains!
5. Loyal Nine
Head the opposite direction on Cambridge Street till you hit the tracks and you’ll arrive at Loyal Nine, a restaurant specializing in “East Coast Revival” cuisine including “lobster with shagbark hickory nuts and pickled mackerel” according to the Boston Globe. A cafe with a separate entrance along the side of the building serves coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. We’ve tried the “lard cookies” and they are excellent!
Follow the signs for “Live Poultry, Fresh Killed” one more block down Cambridge St. and you’ll run into the soon to be opened Lone Star Taco Bar. The restaurant bar will combine elements of Lone Star Allston as well as it’s sister restaurant, Deep Ellum. Yet, as Eater Boston tells us, “rather than an identical twin the new location will be more like a first cousin to both restaurants. A first cousin who drinks very, very well.” We hope they bring the buffalo.
